EOS Network Ventures to Launch $100m EOS Ecosystem Fund

The network has reached consensus on a one-time re-issuance of ~68 million EOS into a multi-signature-locked fund that the network will use to invest in EOS-based projects, operating as EOS Network Ventures (ENV).

“The ENF has been working diligently on securing the additional outside investments into the ENV as it works in parallel towards consensus on the establishment of the fund and entity. This new capital fueling the EOS application layer will drive the next wave of blockchain innovation and market adoption. We anticipate new business models to emerge and meaningful apps built to solve real problems.”

– Yves La Rose, CEO, EOS Network Foundation.

Extensive details of the ENV were covered in the recent EOS Community Fireside Chat, and a FAQ will be published in the coming days.

Token2049 and Web Summit Footage

Yves la Rose joined a host of speakers at Token2049 London last week, sharing the stage with representatives of the Fantom, MultiversX (Formerly Elrond), and Internet Computer chains, with Marieke Flament from the NEAR Foundation moderating.

The chat focused on the future of crypto, including achieving mass adoption, transforming the world with blockchain, and focusing on transparency and accountability in light of the FTX crisis that unfolded during the conference.

Coinciding with London Crypto Week in the heart of London’s financial district, TOKEN2049 London serves as a meeting point for entrepreneurs, crypto enthusiasts, and industry insiders.

Meanwhile, ENF director of developer relations Nathan James took the stage with ENF CMO Patty Fisher at Web Summit in Lisbon, Portugal. Their discussion outlined the costs and benefits of using small vs large networks.

Since 2009, Web Summit has brought together people and companies redefining global technology, with topics ranging from data science to environmental sustainability.

The EOS Network Foundation’s presence at these conferences provides a crucial touch point for the rest of the tech industry, increasing the visibility of the EOS network across the technology space.

EVM X Ideathon Final Winners

The EVM x Ideathon ended on Monday with a pitch session of finalists. You can browse these projects in the project gallery on Helios’s Devpost page.

The final tally included 656 participants in 178 projects. After final judging, 35 projects won cash prizes ranging from $1k-$6k.

Each track had a separate pool of participants, and the finalists joined a virtual pitch meeting to compete for the first-place prize in their category.

First Place Winners for each track:

Realot

Enabling Discovery Of Stranded Facilities

Realot creates a marketplace for underutilized facilities worldwide. Offering novel templated facility access agreements, Realot enables owners and market participants to rent unused structures using transferrable access coupons programmed on EOS.

GameFi marketing on Antelope

Use a blockchain game to market your product with GameFi

Big companies have already expanded their marketing into the gaming sector. GameFi Marketing gives the same capability to smaller companies to help them more affordably create a custom blockchain dApp card game, where cards represent the products or services a company sells.

Small Business Accounting & Web3

Small Business Accounting and Web3 sync platform bridges existing accounting solutions with EOS and Web3

Blockchain solutions don’t work with existing accounting workflows. The proposed system solves this problem and provides a platform for flexibly syncing the EOS blockchain with QuickBooks, so companies only need one sync solution for web3. The system will track all company account activities from and to EOS.

Gov3 1st place ($6k)

Robert’s Rules On-Chain

Add order and transparency to online meetings. Robert’s Rules On-Chain uses blockchain-defined actions to help groups streamline and document their discussions.

While it is convenient and flexible to gather online, the lack of “presence” between participants often leads to unstructured, unproductive discussions. Robert’s Rules On-Chain (RROC) is a dApp designed to keep online meetings efficient and on track. RROC uses smart contracts to guide organized discussions. Meeting participants interact with these contracts to reach a quorum, introduce motions, and vote as a group.

Social Good 1st place – 6k

EOS Community Key Recovery

The missing piece for the ultimate crypto private key management solution.

EOS community key recovery helps propel crypto into the mainstream by helping users recover their webauthn private key when they lose their phones or devices, using live video meetings with pre-defined recovery partners.

Pomelo S4 Open for Applications

Pomelo Season 4 is now open for applications. Season 4 showcases the new “collections” feature, allowing users to curate a list of their favorite grants and share their custom grant playlists. Fans of public goods can begin creating collections as they await the first round of grant approvals starting on 16 November, followed by the first donations on 21 November.

Pomelo is an open-source crowdfunding platform inspired by Gitcoin. It funds EOS-based projects using quadratic funding, which gives greater weight to the number of contributors, so more funds go to grants with more unique donors.

Apply to Season 4 of Pomelo, and the Pomelo team will review the application to ensure it qualifies as a public good under Pomelo’s rules. Then it’s up to the EOS community to use their donations to decide how to split the more than $350,000 matching pool.

Those with a link to an approved grant can sign up for English, Korean, and Chinese pitch sessions. The Pomelo pitch sessions help grant owners connect with the EOS & Antelope community and are an excellent tool for enterprising grant creators to get the word out about their grants. Slots are assigned based on the order received.

To date, Pomelo has empowered hundreds of builders behind some of the most powerful applications in the EOS ecosystem. The community collectively selected and curated these initiatives, providing the decentralization and community participation that are part of a virtuous cycle of protocol development.

Pizza Yield+ Plan

PIZZA DeFi has joined DeFiBox and Vigor in sharing even more Yield+ rewards with their users. The PIZZA Yield+ Plan is already live and adds a 5% APY to EOS and USDT on the PIZZA platform.
Like other DeFi protocols participating in Yield+, PIZZA DeFi generates these additional rewards through integration with the Yield+ and Recover+ initiatives. These initiatives provide additional yield opportunities protocols can offer customers. In exchange, they must abide by security and other metrics outlined in the Recover+ Blue Paper.

Weekly EOS Community Events & Upcoming Conferences

The EOS community also hosts many online events that anyone can join every week:

EOS Network

The EOS Network is a 3rd generation blockchain platform powered by the EOS VM, a low-latency, highly performant, and extensible WebAssembly engine for deterministic execution of near feeless transactions; purpose-built for enabling optimal web3 user and developer experiences. EOS is the flagship blockchain and financial center of the Antelope protocol, serving as the driving force behind multi-chain collaboration and public goods funding for tools and infrastructure through the EOS Network Foundation (ENF).

EOS Network Foundation

The EOS Network Foundation (ENF) is a not-for-profit organization that coordinates financial and non-financial support to encourage the growth and development of the EOS Network.
