In Part I, we introduced the New Era of EOS Tokenomics, established by the network on June 1, 2024. In this second installment, we explore EOS Staking, a major upgrade that capitalizes on these new tokenomics to greatly enhance the staking experience and foster deeper synergies between the network and its participants.

On July 8th, 2024, the first of 250 Million EOS will begin flowing into the EOS staking pool. Those who wish to begin earning staking rewards can choose to stake EOS. For all the details, read on below!

What’s New for EOS Staking?

  • High-Yield Staking Rewards: Increase your returns by staking with an APY that compounds, allowing your yield to grow over time..
  • Extended Lock-up Period: The unstaking period has been extended from 4 to 21 days, improving both the stability and security of the ecosystem.
  • Simplified Participation: We’ve removed the previous voting requirements for selecting 21 block producers or a proxy and introduced a user-friendly interface for a seamless staking experience.
  • Enhanced Block Producer Incentives: Block Producers now receive additional network-generated fees along with their block rewards, further incentivizing their efforts as network demand grows.
  1. Stake EOS: Commit your EOS to the staking pool to start earning rewards.
  2. Unstake EOS: Initiate the unstaking process, which begins a 21-day waiting period.
  3. Claim Rewards: After the 21-day period, claim your EOS along with the accumulated rewards.

Enhanced Staking Benefits

The Staking Rewards Bucket, holding approximately 250 million EOS tokens, enhances the EOS blockchain’s functionality and community engagement. Here are the key points:

  • Purpose: These tokens are allocated for users who stake their EOS, contributing to the network’s security and stability.
  • Release Schedule: The release of these tokens follows a 4-year halving cycle.
  • Annual Output: The annual output is set at 31.25 million EOS
  • Impact: This structured reward system ensures sustained engagement from token holders and promotes a more active community.
  • Community Benefits: Drives broader participation and adoption of the blockchain.

Notice to Legacy REX Stakers

For users already staking under the legacy system, there will be an important transition:

  • Opt-In Transition: Users who do nothing will remain in REX and continue earning yield.
  • Active Transition: Users who buy or sell REX will have their positions moved into the 21-day unstaking period or sold if matured.

Embrace the Future of EOS Staking

On July 8th, 2024, we are excited to launch the EOS staking program, designed to significantly enhance your staking experience. This upgrade is a testament to our ongoing commitment to the EOS community and to the broader evolution of the blockchain ecosystem. Keep an eye on our official channels for updates as we gear up to go live with the staking rewards.

EOS Network

The EOS Network is a 3rd generation blockchain platform powered by the EOS VM, a low-latency, highly performant, and extensible WebAssembly engine for deterministic execution of near feeless transactions; purpose-built for enabling optimal Web3 user and developer experiences. EOS is the flagship blockchain and financial center of the Antelope framework, serving as the driving force behind multi-chain collaboration and public goods funding for tools and infrastructure through the EOS Network Foundation (ENF).

EOS EVM

The EOS EVM is an emulation of the Ethereum EVM, housed within an EOS smart contract. It offers feature parity to other EVMs in the space but with unmatched speed, performance and compatibility. EOS EVM connects the EOS ecosystem to the Ethereum ecosystem by allowing developers to deploy a wide array of Solidity-based digital assets and innovative dApps on EOS. Developers can use EOS EVM to take advantage of Ethereum’s battle-tested open source code, tooling, libraries and SDKs, while leveraging the superior performance of EOS.

EOS Network Foundation

The EOS Network Foundation (ENF) was forged through a vision for a prosperous and decentralized future. Through our key stakeholder engagement, community programs, ecosystem funding, and support of an open technology ecosystem, the ENF is transforming Web3. Founded in 2021, the ENF is the hub for EOS Network, a leading open source platform with a suite of stable frameworks, tools, and libraries for blockchain deployments. Together, we are bringing innovations that our community builds and are committed to a stronger future for all.
