    Eden Election Results

Another Eden on EOS election is complete, and the Eden smart contract has allotted delegates and chief delegates their respective budgets.

The election drew passionate community members from around the world, who joined a tournament-like consensus game in which only participants who can achieve a consensus in representing their group of four to six members can move on to the next round.

Chief delegates include randomly selected head chief Joseph of top block producer EOS Asia, Scatter developer and ENF Developer Outreach lead Nathan James, Mindmap creator as well as ecosystem champion and interviewer, Patrick, of NovaCrypto, and crypto entrepreneur Joshua Seymour of Avolve.

The Eden smart contract awards each chief delegate distributions from the Eden community treasury. Delegates who won the first round also received funding and represented members worldwide from across the EOS community. Each delegate can use their funding to pursue the platform they ran on, whether centered around a specific project or the general promotion of EOS and Eden.

Delegates, are already taking action and delivering on their promises, like Zack Gall, who has delivered on his pitch of providing free CPU to Eden members. Other chief delegates have been active. Joshua has highlighted the importance of keeping in touch with round 1 breakout groups, while Joe has opened a new, better-organized telegram group for Eden members.

Meanwhile, Patrick from NovaCrypto interviewed Nathan James, who is running a workshop to start the discovery process on Eden’s underlying cause/purpose. Nathan offers compensation for time spent to those who actively participate, and interested community members can sign up using the relevant Google Form.

To aid in delegate accountability, the team behind Eden infrastructure maintenance, Edenia, has created a spend explorer that lets users track Eden funds. The process is opt-in, and delegates must use the spend tool in order to tag their funds with a relevant category. Still, it provides a new level of transparency into Eden funds, which many Eden members have identified as a top priority to ensure organizational transparency and cultivate trust.

The next Eden election takes place on April 8, 2023. Any community members who want to get involved can join the organization and register for the next election on the Eden election page.

Architects of Consensus Series: Vlad Tereshkov

The Architects of Consensus Series, which highlights the people behind ENF development and their stories, returns with a third installment. In this article, Brandon Lovejoy interviews ENF lead developer Vlad Tereshkov, whose extensive history includes decades of building enterprise-grade software. A passionate advocate of open-source software and decentralized governance, Tereshkov has been helping build the core EOS protocol, including the Docker utility DUNE, which allows any developer to begin developing on EOS in minutes.

Vlad’s other interests include fixing, improving, and overclocking rare motherboards. He is also an avid astrophotography enthusiast, a pet rescue volunteer with four dogs, a classic car tinkerer, and much more.

“I think the EOS blockchain is the most attractive piece of technology today that has the power to make the world a better place. EOS has an extremely robust codebase, written in the most efficient programming language on Earth by the top software developers with decades of experience.”

    Wharf Session Kit Preview

Greymass has just released a technical preview of the first piece of their new Wharf Toolkit. Wharf is a collection of Software Development Kits (SDKs) for developers working on Antelope applications using JavaScript.

The Session Kit is the first in this collection. A “session” is a technical concept in development that represents the connection between an authenticated device and a remote application server. When a user authenticates against an application server, the server establishes a session which allows a specific device to perform further actions. The Session Kit applies the concept of “sessions” to interactions with Antelope-based blockchains, which provides new developers with a sense of familiarity to ease the adoption curve.

December Programs and Operations Health Report

The ENF provides transparency into operations with the monthly Program & Operations Health Reports. These provide high-level insight into important initiatives across EOS, including IBC, Wallet+ SDKs, and many more. Health scorecards detail the current status of various milestones, highlights & accomplishments, upcoming activities and more.

The December health report highlights some of the most exciting developments in the EOS ecosystem, like inter-blockchain communication, which has completed testing and is nearing its deployment to the EOS, WAX, Telos, and UX chains, or the EOS DAO tools, which integrate HyphaDAO’s toolkit with the Eden upvote process to create a powerful suite of governance tools for decentralized organizations.

    Defibox x Pomelo NFT campaign

In partnership with Pomelo, Defibox offers exceptional yields for a limited time to offer extra incentives to users who provide liquidity for Pomelo NFT tokens. The decentralized finance platform offers up to a promotional 80% APY rate equivalent for 30 days. Defibox lists the current APY equivalent yield rates on their market conditions page.

Meanwhile, Defibox’s bp.defi block producer is now in the top 21, and the team has outlined their plans to decentralize the governance decisions and rewards of the block producer. These plans align with previous BIPs (BOX improvement proposals) on the matter and align with the interests of their users.

In short, the Defibox DAO will vote on a DIP proposal to decide future BP governance decisions, allowing the Defibox community to participate in EOS decision-making.

Defibox will distribute their rewards according to prior DIPs, with 25% to BP Operations, 7.5% to empower the BSS Box Saving System, and 67.5% to EOS+USDT market-making and vault deposit rewards.

Happy 2023 and Lunar Calendar Giveaway

The EOS Network Foundation is ushering in 2023 with a Lunar New Year Giveaway! Participants must complete a quick survey to enter the contest and win NFT rewards. These surveys help the ENF gain insight into the community and tailor communications and development based on feedback.

Like the earlier Holiday Giveaway, it uses the Bountyblok tool, which offers a powerful way to run contests, giveaways, gifts, and other NFT distributions on the EOS, WAX, Proton, Hedera, and Polygon chains. The tool features user verification through social media and a hosted landing page, offering web3 companies a slick and easy way to reward communities for participating in their ecosystem.

    Powered by EOS: WordProof

WordProof is a timestamp plugin for WordPress powered by the EOS blockchain. WordProof allows publishers, merchants and content creators to timestamp their content onto a public blockchain, bringing transparency and accountability to the information that matters most. By helping support WordProof, the ENF has helped bring to light the power of the EOS chain to outside observers.

Cryptographically timestamped content creates new opportunities in search engine optimization, copyright protection, e-commerce, online publishing and more. Building on EOS has allowed the WordProof team to scale effectively and offer fast time-stamping at little to no cost to the end user.

Recently, WordProof teamed up with Yoast, the #1 SEO tool for WordPress, bringing accessible time-stamping to tens of thousands of users around the world. WordProof was also recently integrated with Drupal.

Their tool has already logged over 5 million pieces of content on the EOS blockchain. While they offer integrations with other networks, over 99% of users choose EOS for its speed, low cost and ease of use. Their most notable accolade was receiving the Blockchain For Social Good award in 2022, directly from the European Commission. This award included a €1M grant for projects that develop blockchain-based initiatives that significantly impact social change.

EOS DeFi enters the TVL Top 21

DeFi on EOS has hit its stride thanks to a robust DeFi ecosystem and boosted Yield+ rewards. According to DeFiLlama, EOS ascended into the top 21 protocols by TVL with over $100m in Total Value Locked (TVL), representing 15% growth in one month. This rapid rise signals the power of incentivized rewards like Yield+ to guide users to a desired outcome.

Yield+ is a liquidity incentive program inspired by the most successful DeFi incentive programs. The original Yield+ Blue Paper highlighted three core stages of a Layer 1 chain’s value proposition. The Yield+ reward mechanism primarily aims to drive adoption through the TVL to Market Cap ratio. The ascension of EOS into the top 21 protocols by TVL demonstrates the power and effectiveness of this reward mechanism.

    ENF Marketing Workshop in Virginia

The EOS Network Foundation kicked off 2023 with an all-hands marketing workshop this week in Virginia. The team discussed strategy, roadmap, and all topics related to marketing and outreach to the EOS community and the wider technology space.

As a geographically distributed organization, the ENF gets little opportunity to gather in person. This marketing workshop acts as a valuable learning tool to help workers understand the priorities and strategies of the organization. It also brings them together in physical space to boost camaraderie and cultivate a cohesive organizational culture with a depth that is difficult to achieve in long-distance video meetings.

    Weekly EOS Community Events
