The Everything EOS Weekly Report is the best place to catch up on all the latest news in EOS from all around the world.

    ENF Q3 Quarterly Report

Each quarter, the ENF puts together a report to transparently update the community on spending, progress, and initiatives. The Q3 quarterly report, released on 21 October, details TrustEVM, the New EOS, and much more.

In addition to Q3 initiatives, the quarterly report looks at the past year since the ENF’s founding. The EOS network rebranded its software protocol from EOSIO to Antelope and completed the transition with the Leap 3.1 release and EOS Independence Day on 21 September. It also began partnerships with Zaisan for help with conference outreach and OCI to accelerate development.

The ENF provided the primary matching pool for Pomelo and funded Eden DAOs in multiple languages, and provided Direct Grants to five different community initiatives. It brought HyphaDAO to EOS and Eden and helped fund .gems, EOS Support, and the EVMxIdeathon

The ENF also led the launch of Yield+, Recover+, a new Scalability+ Blue Paper, and a testnet version of TrustEVM. These products supplement the ENF’s core software development releases of Leap 3.1, Dune, and the Contract Development Toolkit (CDT).

The report also outlines future initiatives, including Instant Finality, trustless inter-blockchain communication (IBC) between Antelope chains, Software Development Kits (SDKs) to help developers leverage the Antelope stack for their solutions, and RAM limitation fixes.

This tremendous progress proves that the governance and direction that fell short in recent years gave way to a thoughtful and strategic steward in the ENF.

ENF Meets the Eden Chief Delegates

The newest Eden chief delegates met with Yves La Rose from the ENF in a live-streamed video call on 21 October. In the call, they discussed their expectations for Eden and the ENF.

Yves expressed confidence that the Eden community successfully built a sustainable organization and was impressed that the process allowed delegates with disagreements to come to a consensus and solve their problems. He also outlined a few issues around underutilized funding and member participation.

Eden delegates also shared their ideas to expand membership and increase existing member participation.

Yves expressed his willingness to meet whenever the delegates felt like arranging it. He later shared a change of plans for a mysterious flight to Korea.

    Recover+ Details

The ENF published an article this week outlining some of the benefits of the Recover+ initiative. Recover+ (R+) is a cyber-security portal and rapid incident response program. R+ can help safeguard EOS DeFi projects and their users through bug bounties and white-hat incentives. It also offers an avenue to move swiftly and recover stolen funds in the event of a malicious hack.

Forming a new type of DeFi insurance layer for the EOS Network, R+ allows project developers on EOS to opt in and gain access to valuable tools and information. Participants can also connect to professional security experts who will assist in coordinating a comprehensive response to hacking incidents.

In the event of a hack, R+ provides a formalized process through which relevant parties present EOS block producers (BPs) with thoroughly analyzed and verified information regarding a hacking incident. This new standard flow of vetted information through R+ allows BPs to take action, confident in all the details. When necessary, they can move quickly to recover compromised funds by leveraging the unique properties of EOS account permissions and its Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus algorithm.

Recover+ is not a magic bullet. Participating protocols still must be vigilant and can only utilize the Recover+ pipeline if they notice fraudulent activity and report it. Recover+ is a mitigation initiative and does not guarantee recovery from a hack or exploit. Still, Recover+ presents a tremendous opportunity to bring DeFi into a safer and more user-friendly era.

    Defibox DIP47 approved

Defibox, a DeFi application on EOS, approved the Defibox Improvement Proposal DIP47, which outlines several improvements, including a deflationary mechanism, a “price upward spiral” mechanism, expansion of satellite protocols, and many benefits that EOS’s Yield+ initiative enables.

In the approved version of the proposal:

45% of the main protocol revenue subsidizes buybacks and burns of BOX tokens.

15% of the main protocol revenue finances staking incentives.

10% of the main protocol income goes to risk reserves. The risk reserve can compensate for some loss due to contract security issues or extreme market conditions.

30% of the main protocol income goes to team income.

The proposal included several options, and most respondents chose the first option of 45% to a buyback and burn, 15% to a staking incentive, 10% to a risk reserve, and 30% to team income.

These improvements help to promote the growth of BOX, and help facilitate decentralized finance in the New EOS ecosystem.

    Pomelo Robot Potion Release

The next stage of the Season 4 Pomelo NFT story unfolds with the activation of Robot Potion blending. A Robot Potion is a magical blend of moon rocks and collectible trading cards from season 3 grants. This potion has the unique property of generating self-assembling robots once per day until the potion runs out. Rumour among the Pomelians is that the sun energizes moon rocks with the solar wind. When combined with the magic of quadratic funding, the energized rocks can self-assemble into this magic potion. The recipe comes from the ancient wisdom of the moon’s previous Gitcoinian inhabitants.

Pomelo provides a place where grant owners can get funding for their public-good projects. Matching partners provide a pool of funds for an even bigger impact. The EOS Network Foundation continued their support for Pomelo, and provided $350,000 in matching funds for Season 4. The season kicks off on 14 November.

    News from Chintai

Blockchain capital market operator Chintai was awarded a Recognized Market Operator (RMO) license from the monetary authority of Singapore, following the earlier award of a Capital Market Services (CMS) license on 16 August. With these licenses, Chintai can now support its clients by providing a marketplace for regulated digital securities, a one-stop solution for issuing, listing and trading equities, bonds, real estate, and other financial products.

Chintai offers a regulated Blockchain Platform-as-a-Service (BPaaS) model that will expand access to capital, especially for companies looking to develop innovative digital asset products to disrupt the market. Their RMO and CMS licenses are a huge step forward, and allow them to operate in Singapore and provide their services worldwide.

    Helios Q3 Report

Helios was formed with the mission to draw the attention of those who are less familiar with the Antelope blockchain tech stack. They support the adoption and expansion of the Antelope/EOSIO ecosystem. Currently, Helios adds value through communications, marketing, and its incubator program
In their most recent Q3 quarterly report, Helios highlights the challenges in the wider blockchain market’s “crypto winter”. The document outlines Helios’s steps to help budding entrepreneurs build in a down or sideways market, primarily through their EVMxIdeathon and future initiatives.

    Ideathon Conclusion & Final ceremony

A collaboration between the EOS Network Foundation and Helios, the EVMxIdeathon is an eight-week event covering two main tracks and multiple categories, with $125,000 in prizes across both tracks. Helios handles operations and execution, while the ENF has provided a prize pool of $75k for the Ideathon.

The EVMxIdeathon is approaching its conclusion. Applications close on 31 October, and the final ceremony will commence on 14 November. The EVM x Ideathon Final Ceremony is a Shark-Tank-style pitch session where grant owners make their case in front of a panel of experts. Over 500 participants have already applied, and the top three pitches in five categories (DeFi, GameFi, Web3, Gov3, and Social Good) will advance to the Final Ceremony.
