    EOS EVM Updates

    Developer Incentive Program

To further stimulate development on the EOS EVM, the EOS Network Foundation (ENF) has introduced the EOS EVM Incentive Program (EEIP). This initiative offers a $50,000 incentive to qualifying decentralized applications (dApps) deploying on EOS EVM. Program participants have access to financial support, plus marketing and development resources.

EEIP is poised to play a pivotal role in growing the EOS EVM ecosystem. Since the launch, there has been a massive influx of applications, and the EOS community can expect further expansion of the ecosystem and continued funding in this area.

    BlockSec Partnership

Another major initiative by the ENF to grow adoption of the EOS EVM is a partnership with the BlockSec team, who will perform a full code audit of the EOS EVM—the most intensive audit so far.

This latest audit will positively benefit the EOS EVM ecosystem in multiple ways:

    • Build further trust in the technology and accelerate adoption.
    • Strengthen the ecosystem by providing access to industry-leading security services for EOS EVM ecosystem partners.

Watch for more information once the audit is complete.

    EOS EVM Integrations

This month, the applications launching on EOS EVM continue to increase. Here are just a few.

    OpenBiSea and MotoDEX

The OpenBiSea Game Studio and NFT marketplace has deployed on the EOS EVM. This brings both a multi-chain NFT marketplace and the MotoDEX play-to-earn game to the ecosystem.

MotoDEX is a blockchain game where you can race motorcycles, develop your riders, and improve high-speed tracks. Players attempt to reach the finish line with the fastest time.

ENF Communications Manager Brandon Lovejoy chatted with the OpenBiSea team about MotoDEX on July 18th. Attendees of the AMA learned about the team, main categories of gameplay, how to play, what you can earn, and the game’s project economies. See the entire discussion on Telegram.

    MathWallet and Collectify

MathWallet is a multi-chain wallet that supports over 100 blockchains. You can store, transfer, and stake your crypto assets using the mobile or desktop version. MathWallet recently announced support for EOS EVM, and used Collectify to promote this with a recent giveaway.

Collectify is an NFT-as-a-Service platform that makes it easy to build what you need for your NFT business, including no-code tools for minting and giveaways.

    NerveNetwork

NerveNetwork, a decentralized digital asset service network that strives for a safe, free, and transparent DeFi service, also revealed an upcoming integration with EOS EVM.

Its products, NerveBridge, NerveSwap, NerveFarm, and SwapBox, will soon fully support EOS EVM and deliver seamless bridge service. Watch for more updates coming soon.

    EVMNS

In an update for the EOS community on the Fireside Chat, the marketing manager from EVMNS announced that the name service will launch soon on EOS EVM.

EOS EVM Name Service (EVMNS) is a distributed, open, and scalable Decentralized Identifier (DID) domain naming system built on EOS EVM. EVMNS domains allow you to map readable and easy-to-remember names with all kinds of content at the same time. Essentially, EVMNS can provide a universal Web3 username for all of your profiles (Twitter, Ethereum, EOS, Telegram, etc.).

    ENF Q2 2023 Quarterly Report

The EOS Network Foundation (ENF) released its Q2 2023 Quarterly Report, showcasing significant growth for the EOS ecosystem during this quarter.

    Key highlights include:

    • EOS celebrates 5-year anniversary: On June 8, the EOS community celebrated the five-year anniversary of the EOS Network. With an impressive track record of over 1,800 consecutive days of zero downtime, EOS has proved itself as a highly reliable and performant ecosystem for Web3 projects.
    • Launch of EOS EVM mainnet: The launch of the EOS EVM on April 13 marked a significant milestone for the ecosystem. With its unmatched speed and performance, EOS EVM is invaluable for developers who want to build on EOS, and their new applications and wallets will attract people from other ecosystems and help grow adoption.
    • Notable partnerships: In April, DWF Labs announced a $60 million strategic partnership with the ENF, aimed at accelerating growth and adoption of the EOS Network. In May, the Wombat team announced Wombat X, an accelerator program that will support Web3 games and initiatives. The ENF is one of the founding partners of this initiative.
    • Technical developments: EOS native underwent a major upgrade with the release of Antelope Leap v4.0.0. In addition, EOS EVM engineers released the first major upgrade for the EVM. EOS EVM v0.5.0 includes critical updates that improve performance and user experience.

    Leap 5 Announced

The EOS Network Foundation (ENF) has announced the launch timeline for Antelope Leap 5.0, a consensus upgrade to the protocol used in EOS and other Antelope-based chains, set for Q4 2023.

Leap 5.0 introduces new features that supercharge the network’s capabilities, including Instant Finality, the HotStuff consensus algorithm, and peer-to-peer protocol improvements.

On EOS, the Leap 5 consensus upgrade will tentatively occur between late November and early December 2023.

Infrastructure providers, technical partners, and Antelope Ecosystem contributors should prepare for the upgrade, which requires a coordinated effort across the ecosystem.

***All EOS node operators must update to Antelope Leap 5.0 before the consensus upgrade to stay synced with the network***

While the EOS blockchain is already fast, “Instant Finality” will improve scalability by decreasing the time until a transaction is considered final and irreversible.

EOS’s Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) algorithm currently takes ~180 seconds to reach finality. The HotStuff consensus algorithm improves on this paradigm by using what are known as “aggregate signatures” that combine multiple signatures and public keys into a single signature and verify it as a single P2P operation. HotStuff offers dramatic improvements in scalability and Leap 5 will bring the last irreversible block from ~180 seconds to a few seconds (~1-3 seconds).

This improvement will benefit Antelope Trustless IBC profoundly, reducing finality between blockchains from several minutes to just a few seconds.

Leap 5.0 is a landmark in the EOS community’s journey. Like the Leap 3.1 consensus upgrade, which moved from EOSIO to Antelope, Leap 5.0 propels EOS’s community-led mission forward, empowering DPoS with additional consensus roles. Initially, Block Producers will fulfill three roles: Block Proposer, Consensus Leader, and Block Finalizer. However, HotStuff allows the network to separate these roles in the future.

    Recurring EOS Events

The EOS community also hosts many online events that anyone can join every week:

    EOS Network

The EOS Network is a 3rd generation blockchain platform powered by the EOS VM, a low-latency, highly performant, and extensible WebAssembly engine for deterministic execution of near feeless transactions; purpose-built for enabling optimal Web3 user and developer experiences. EOS is the flagship blockchain and financial center of the Antelope framework, serving as the driving force behind multi-chain collaboration and public goods funding for tools and infrastructure through the EOS Network Foundation (ENF).

    EOS EVM

The EOS EVM is an emulation of the Ethereum EVM, housed within an EOS smart contract. It offers feature parity to other EVMs in the space but with unmatched speed, performance and compatibility. EOS EVM connects the EOS ecosystem to the Ethereum ecosystem by allowing developers to deploy a wide array of Solidity-based digital assets and innovative dApps on EOS. Developers can use EOS EVM to take advantage of Ethereum’s battle-tested open source code, tooling, libraries and SDKs, while leveraging the superior performance of EOS.
