The Everything EOS Weekly Report is the best place to catch up on all the latest news in EOS from all around the world.

    Pomelo Finale

Pomelo wrapped up its fourth season this week, with donations closing at the end of the day on Wednesday, December 14. The Pomelo community raised nearly 96,000 EOS across 138 grants, with donations rolling in rapidly in the last few days of the season.

Meanwhile, among the crags and craters on the Moon, Pomelo Robots band together to bootstrap a metropolis. Together, they create vehicles or structures to attract Pomelo Astronauts to a moon city full of discos, armouries, farms, and more.

Pomelo NFT participants can blend five Pomelo Robots and a robot potion, and watch the robots do their work. Each Robot has a rarity value, and with enough rarity, the blended Robots can create camps, vehicles, and specialized structures. Pomelo Astronauts look for this infrastructure, and any account with a Base Camp or a full set of vehicles or structures may find a new Pomelo Astronaut token in their inventory.

For those who can’t get enough of donating to public goods, Pomelo is holding a poker competition, the winner of which can contribute 500 EOS to the grant of their choice. Pomelo will host the tournament on the Pokernow platform on Sunday, December 18, at 16:00 UTC.

If you need help deciding which grant to support, listen to the Pomelo Pitch Sessions to hear grantees articulate the functionality and value of their public goods. Twitter hosted the first, second, third (in two parts), and fourth pitch sessions in English and the first, second, and third sessions in Korean. The first and second pitch sessions in Chinese took place on Tencent Conference and are available on Youtube.

    EOS Holiday Giveaway

The EOS Network Foundation (ENF) looks back on some of this year’s biggest milestones for the EOS network with a holiday trivia contest from December 14 – January 3rd.

Answer weekly questions to receive an EOS Holiday Gift NFT. Then, send it to a friend, keep it for yourself or maybe host a gift exchange with your friends. At the end of each week, you’ll be able to unwrap your gift for a special NFT surprise!

Every Wednesday, the EOS Network Foundation will be posting a new trivia question on Twitter. All you have to do to receive an EOS Holiday Gift NFT is like the pinned tweet, retweet it, tag three friends in the comments and include #EOSHolidayGiveaway, join the EOS Community Discord and answer the question found inside the weekly Bountyblok contest.

On the following Tuesday, once the contest entry period ends, all correct entries will receive an EOS Holiday Gift NFT. You can keep the gift for yourself or send it to a friend. Unwrap the gift to find out what’s inside by visiting AtomicHub, logging into your EOS account, and transferring your EOS Holiday Gift NFT to the account “unpack.gems”. Then, check your inventory and share what you got!

Community Growth in the Web3 Era

The Everything EOS Podcast is back again with another episode. This time, Brandon Lovejoy hosts Lliam Buckley and Jonaed Iqbal, two recent ENF hires. They discuss their history, introduction to blockchain and EOS, and priorities for their work with the ENF.

Lliam Buckley is the new communications manager for the ENF. Buckley is a former community manager from the Telos and Seeds communities and has a background in audio engineering and music production.

Jonaed Iqbal is the newest member of the Developer Relations team, working with team lead Nathan James on developer outreach. Iqbal is an entrepreneur who built a large social following on LinkedIn before pivoting to Twitter, where he brought a refreshing perspective that gained significant reach.

Together, Lliam and Jonaed will leverage their outreach skills to bring the new EOS to developers and other stakeholders alike. Watch the video to learn more about their backgrounds and the motivations behind their work.

Join the EOS community in the EOS Discord voice chat and play some cards. Participants can win prizes like Pomelo Astronaut Coins, and the four top players will win funding they can allocate toward public goods on EOS!

The .gems team is organizing this event for the community and providing a variety of prizes.

The best part? It’s free to enter:

    1. Join the EOS Community Discord.
    2. Direct message Stephane#8111 on Discord and let him know you want to join the poker tournament.

If you’d like to sponsor this event by donating some prizes, .gems is happy to tag you in promo tweets and mention your project during the event. Reach out to stephane@dotgems.io for details.

    Top ENF Projects Article

After a year of advancements, the EOS Network Foundation has made significant progress, and EOS Support has shared an article highlighting some of the most exciting developments.

One of the most substantial progressions was the hard fork from EOSIO software to the Antelope Leap 3.1 software update, which gave the EOS network direct control of their software. This consensus upgrade required considerable coordination between stakeholders but went off without a hitch.

Working groups outlined many of Leap 3.1’s upgrades in the Blue Papers the groups created.

    Core+

The Core+ team works on development specifically focused on the EOS blockchain.

    Antelope Coalition

Developers across Antelope chains come together in a working group to develop the Antelope protocol. The team meets weekly and releases weekly updates on their progress.

    EVM

The ENF put together a working group focused on creating an Ethereum Virtual Machine, which resulted in the creation of Trust EVM. This EVM is likely one of the most performant EVM implementations in the entire blockchain space, achieving upward of 800 swaps per second, more than double the throughput of Solana.

    API+

The ENF created the API+ working group to help mitigate the complaints developers share about building on EOS.

    Wallet+

Wallet+ is an initiative to create user-friendly wallets led by EOS wallet veteran Greymass.

    Recover+

Recover+ creates a framework to allow exchanges, Dapp developers, and other stakeholders to set up emergency procedures for recovering from hacks and bugs.

    Audit+

The Audit+ working group proposes four initiatives for improving security through code audits, including a list of common pitfalls, software libraries for secure development, bug bounties, and an open-source security audit API and platform.

    Scalability+

Scalability+ examines the EOS ecosystem and identifies the most difficult scalability challenges on the Antelope protocol, including overcoming RAM limitations and bootstrapping the chain history on a fresh node.

    Yield+

Yield+ aims to increase the total value locked (TVL) on EOS through DeFi incentive structures. It has already increased the TVL of EOS and USDT on EOS to nearly 18M, up from 12M in September.

    DUNE

Docker Utilities for Node Execution (DUNE) is a tool that provides tools for Antelope developers on any Docker-compatible platform, including Windows, Mac, and Linux. This tool helps developers on all platforms to build and test smart contracts on Antelope-based blockchains like EOS.

These advancements, among many others, helped launch the new EOS, and with future initiatives like ENV, IBC, and more, next year looks to be just as packed.

    Trimbot Substack

Trimbot, one of EOS’s most active pseudonymous influencers, has released an article on his Substack detailing his viewpoint on the recent donation of 500k EOS to the Eden governance organization. In it, he shares his analysis of B1’s actions through the lens of the law, speculating that their donation may have been a smokescreen for reducing their legal liability. Read more on Trimbot’s Substack newsletter.

    Boid Frontier Rewards Program

Boid is a decentralized application that makes the benefits of blockchain technology accessible to all people. It is a website and software platform that provides a social gateway for individuals to contribute their computing power towards big ideas and get rewarded.

Over the past year, the Boid team has developed a new Boid platform from the ground up. The new system has key goals that will take Boid to the next level.

The new Boid platform adds multiple user experience improvements, including an abstracted wallet system and improved UX design for the web and desktop apps. The new platform also offers invitation and contribution rewards, trustless oracle data feeds, and staking and burning rewards, all while keeping everything on-chain without any reliance on a central server.

Follow the instructions to collect Frontier rewards from the new Boid platform. To link your EOS or Telos account to Boid, login to your testnet boid account and then view your account page. Click the “Update Account Info” button and provide your EOS and Telos account names. These linked accounts will receive Boid Frontier rewards based on their activity in the Boid ecosystem. Accounts can earn Boid rewards by inviting friends, submitting improvement or feature proposals, and submitting Frontier bug reports.
