This Week’s Topics

    Are You Building Yet?

If you’re not building with EOS yet, then you’ve got more great reasons than ever to start now. There are two Hackathons happening this month to empower builders with EOS: the EVMxIdeathon and the Trust EVM GameFi Hackathon. If you’re already building, then these provide amazing opportunities to supercharge your work!

In last week’s report we featured the announcement of the EVMxIdeathon, an innovative community-led Hackathon and Ideathon that we’re organizing with Helios. This eight week event will provide opportunities for everyone who is interested in building with EOS, including both technical developers and non-technical creators who have great ideas. There will be two tracks and $125,000 rewarded to over fifty teams that create great pitches or build helpful apps on Trust EVM. The event will also feature many workshops where you can learn helpful skills and opportunities to participate in Helios’ renowned Incubator program. You can learn more about this exciting event in our introductory article and a blog post that Helios recently published to show the importance of ideathons.

In addition to the articles, you can also learn much more about the EVMxIdeathon in recent Fireside Chats. This week we published a video clip with event organizer Chris Barnes sharing an Overview of the EVMxIdeathon. You can also hear the full discussion from last week for more details. During this week’s Fireside Chat, Helios marketing visionary Waxa provided many more exciting details and shared an interesting message with new details about the five categories of the EVMxIdeathon: DeFi, Gov3, GameFi, Social Good, and Web3. The EVMxIdeathon will open for registration on September 19th and we encourage everyone to participate and spread the word. Join the EOS Network Discord and participate in Fireside Chats every Wednesday at 1900 UTC to get the best alpha leading up to the event!

Act quick, there are only four days remaining to register in the Trust EVM GameFi Hackathon! So far over twenty-five teams have registered to build amazing games in this hackathon with the unparalleled innovations of Trust EVM. You can see all the game BUIDLs on the hackathon site, as well as details about the event and a comprehensive application guide to learn how to participate. You can learn much more about the Trust EVM GameFi Hackathon in an introductory article from the Trust EVM team and our past four weekly reports.

You can also explore recent content about Trust EVM, the world’s most performant Ethereum Virtual Machine that will further empower game developers to build the future of GameFi on EOS. Early benchmarking has shown the Trust EVM can perform orders of magnitude greater swaps per second than any other EVM and the potential for Trust EVM to revolutionize the gaming industry is spreading quickly around the world. This week the Chinese Trust EVM hosted a Twitter Space with very popular influencers about the effect of the Ethereum Merge for GameFi and they also released several new articles on their blog, which features both English and Chinese translations.

If you’re still not building yet, try scrolling through Nathan James‘ twitter feed for some inspiration and practical advice to get moving as a Web3 developer. Nathan frequently shares insightful threads to help builders learn valuable skills, such as coding and networking. This week Nathan also released an inspiring new video about imposter syndrome and how developers can learn to create more value, plus he’s now looking for developer advocates to create more videos. Of course, you can also review the info that’s been released so far about our upcoming developer hub that Nathan is leading to help developers Learn to Earn.

If you have any questions about building with EOS, feel free to reach out in our Discord. We encourage you to participate the exciting hackathons this month and are looking forward to seeing what you build!

    Remodeling Centralized Management With DAOs

Our CEO, Yves La Rose, was recently featured in an insightful Nasdaq interview about remodeling centralized management with DAOs.

In this interview, Yves provides an introduction to decentralized autonomous organizations, comparisons with traditional organizational structures, and an overview of advantages and limitations of DAOs. He also shares visions for how DAOs can enable flourishing in the future with increased sustainability, anti-fragility, programability, immutability, and trustless coordination among community members. Lastly, Yves provides an overview of the EOS DAO and the ENF’s unique role in the ecosystem, then shares some exciting hints about upcoming tools that will empower communities to form DAOs on EOS.

DAOs can serve all kinds of helpful purposes and one of their most exciting applications are DAGGs, which combine the benefits of DAOs with gaming guilds in our rich GameFi ecosystem. All DAOs can benefit from tools built directly into the EOS blockchain (such as advanced permission structures) and a wide variety of tools built on EOS, such as Consortium, DAC Factory, Daclify, dBoard, Eden Elections, Eden ƒractal, Eden NFTs, and EDAO. With the upcoming release of Trust EVM and it’s full RPC compatibility, there are also many more DAO tools that will soon be seamlessly compatible with EOS.

All of these tools empower communities to cooperate with the benefits of Web3, which were recently described in an interesting article from CryptoNewsZ. After reading Yves’ interview with Nasdaq, you can read this article to learn about the unique decentralization of EOS, how EOS cooperates differently than other blockchains, the history with Block.one, and how EOS is truly a community endeavor brought to life.

“EOS is arguably the largest DAO in the world… Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for the EOS community to spin up DAOs without having to deploy their own smart contracts, UIs, or server infrastructure.”

    Yves La Rose

    Preparing to Leap

There are only 12 more days until EOS strides into the future of Web3 with the consensus upgrade to Antelope Leap 3.1!

As we’ve featured in our past three weekly reports, the EOS community is entering a new era with the release of Antelope, an open framework for building fast, secure, and user-friendly Web3 services. With the scheduled launch date of Antelope Leap on September 21st, EOS engineers are working diligently to ensure a smooth transition with support for many helpful new features. For example, the Greymass team recently announced that they upgraded all of their API Nodes. If you are running an EOS node, read our upgrade guide to learn how to continue syncing with the network.

Nat from the LiquidApps team recently wrote a technical article entitled “Antelope’s Magic API, Firehose,” which provides an overview of benefits and instructions for a powerful new Firehose API functionality in Leap 3.1. You can hear Nat and Daniel Keyes share an insightful discussion about the Leap 3.1 upgrade in this week’s Fireside Chat.

The latest Antelope Coalition Meeting is also now published with updates about on Leap 3.1 system contracts, the Scalability+ Blue Paper, IBC, faster finality, Wallet SDK approvers, and more. As always, you can watch all meetings on our playlists for both the Antelope Leap 3.1 Launch Group and Antelope Coalition Meetings. You can also read a new article released this week by Crypto Daily to learn more about the upcoming consensus upgrade and its momentous significance for the EOS community.

    DefiBox and Yield+

Many people are noticing the unique yield opportunities from Defibox following last week’s successful launch of the Yield+ Pilot Phase!

This week there were three informative new articles published by DefiBox community members, plus a new Defibox Weekly Report and a Chinese Twitter Space. The first article by a community member named Dalio is entitled “3 charts reveal the huge value that Yield+ will bring to EOS and BOX,” which summarizes the potential for Yield+, the BOX token, and future DefiBox development. The second article by River provides an overview of the four protocols on DefiBox: Swap, USN, Lend, and Balance. The third article by Thian provides a more general introduction to DeFi then shares thoughtful perspectives about how Yield+ helps Defibox provide wealth generation opportunities. Lastly, our Chinese team hosted a popular Twitter Space about the return of DeFi and new narrative for the next bull market!

To learn more about Defibox, you can visit Defibox.io or read our recent stories about the launch of Balance and their second anniversary. You can view neatly organized statistics about Defibox and several other protocols that have been accepted into the Yield+ program at TokenYield.io. All qualified developers are encouraged to apply. EOS Taking Steps Toward an Epic End of Year!

After celebrating ENF’s First Anniversary, EOS Go wrote a great new article to reflect on our growth so far and summarize several exciting developments that signal a very positive outlook for EOS!

The first development that EOS Go summarizes is our impressive growth in community activity, which increased in social engagement by 55% and back-links by 104% over the past six months. The article then explains some of the initiatives that are inspiring more attention, including powerful new features in Antelope, the EVMxIdeathon, and the Yield+ Pilot Phase.

As we shared in a recent report, The New EOS is On The Rise in so many exciting ways. In addition to all the developments above and much more, we’re also embarking on a global tour of upcoming conferences to promote The New EOS. You can hear a great overview of our EOS conference strategies with Rhett from Zaisan in this week’s Fireside Chat. Feel free to get in touch if you’d like to meet us at conferences in the coming months.

Thank you to everyone in the community for all the amazing work over the past year since launching the ENF and past four years since launching EOS. We’re excited to take the next steps with you all and looking forward to an epic end of year!
